I did, but it works now anyways. Now onto the crtique. In the upper left of the planet you can see the edge of the sphere you used to block it out. It makes it look like you really didn't even look over it once you finished. Other then that it looks good. Keep up the good work.

The odd purple blotch in the starscape seems out of place. Take some of the lighting into consideration, if the planet is shadowed as it is, then there should be a major light source in the upper right.

yeah, this is my first space piece, so i'm not very well aquainted with light sources and other things like that, can anyone point me or suggest how to make a good light source up there?

There's a tut that'll greatly help you with planets, spanning a few pages long and really in depth. I can't get the page right now, my internets being stupid.

When I find it, I'll tell you (hopefully by tonight).

But for a first, it's decent. I think there should be more negative space in the composition, because... quite frankly, the planets not really interesting, and the planets texture is a bit plain and repetitive (lines going across).

I'm sure rabies can touch up on more things like the background and stuff, I'm lost at words to guide you further, as if I had did that in the first place :P; I'm starting to learn space art myself so I can broaden my range of art styles

I think the bg should have more depth, as of now it looks flat.

GJ for a first, though! I'll look forward to your future pieces.

He did ask for advanced Critique, so here it is.

I dont like it much, the planet is way too huge. it also doesnt help that most of it is covered in black, kind of leaves it empty. i do like the stars and the space dust, looks very well done, but maybe try and mix it up a little, mix up the colours. also, the texture used on the planet isnt that good, try a different one next time. also, add a light source, makes it look like your actually in space, and its not just a picture.
