This is drawing only. Pencil and paper, no photoshop no digital anything.

    Due date: August 16, 2005

    Medium: Pencil (Graphite)

    Subject: Human Hand

Size: anything between 400x400 and 800x800. The size doesn't matter really; you can do 800x600, 400x745, 675x540, whatever.

    Rules:

+ Drawing from life (no photo's, no cartoons). Look at your hand, or you friends hand or a severed hand...whatever. Draw it from a real life hand.

+ I'll grade each entry. No public voting here. I'll put up all the peices for display, and will PM the members with their scores (0%-100%). If people want to, I will open it to public voting, but only if the majority of entrants want it. *note* if this does go to public voting, my entry will be voided.

+ No computer work. Of any kind. All you can do is scan/photograph this peice in, crop it, resize it, and post it.

    ________________________

You may curse me now, but when you go to apply for college they're going to require at least 10 drawings from life just to be considered for acceptance.

As an added bonus i'm actually going to enter this one, lol. I haven't done mine yet, so I'm at no advantage here. I just thought this would be a fun way to bring it back to the basics in this community. Who knows, if it goes well I may do one of these every week/month or so.

I'm giving everyone a score, not a ranking. Two people can have the same score. And if the entrants decide they want it publicly voted on, my peice won't be included in the voting...so explain to me again how i have the advantage?

I'm scoring them instead of voting on them for a couple of reasons. A ) this way I can give some critique on techniques, directly to the person. Without other members jumping on their backs. B ) Nobody will know what the other person scored, so it's not a death match scene in here.

This isn't about winning or losing, it's about getting better at design and art.

Oh yeah, and someone mentioned that they don't have a scanner. I'm not even using my scanner. It makes the lines appear to harsh. I'm just going to take a picture with my digital camera. That's how i'd recommend entering your drawing, because it will look more like it does in real life.

    crazygamers,
you don't have a digital camera either?

    undertone,
sounds good. this isn't supposed to be a competition really, just practice and personal growth. So enjoy yourself, and test your abilities.

I think I can do that but just realize that there is going to be some editing of the image in cs to clean it up if that is ok. Also I would like to know if it is ok to use other mediums then just pencil? I am really trying to get the hang of inking and would like to start making cells soon and i wonder if these would be enterable. One last question. Would we be able to use computer programs such as sketchbook pro to get that airbrush effect? This sounds like this would be really cool. Great Idea btw.

    Just wondering..when you say

    '(no photo's, no cartoons)'

does that mean like your not allowed to do comic?

I re-read your posts but i still cannot understand..

    BTW, is an anime character allowed? It has landscape with it... ^^;
