Hi! This is my first tutorial, but I think that it looks great. I`m still happy that I could make something like this. It`s simple and wonder that maybe I have seen something like this somewhere else, but I`m pretty sure that this is not ripped-off. Only the beginning is from another very simple tutorial that is posted here.

    So, let`s start.

    1. Make new document, white with all default settings, I made mine 1024x768 because I wanted to make a wallpaper.

    2. filter>render>clouds

    3. filter>render>difference clouds

    4. ctrl+I to invert

    5. ctrl+L for levels and set to 0 0,10 255

    6. ctrl+U, click colorize, Hue 250, Saturation 75, Lightness 0

    7. Duplicate the layer.

    8. Now go to Filter>Distort>Twirl set to 500 (do this with the top layer)

    9. For bottom layer do the same, but with settings -500 (minus 500)

    10. Now set blend mode to Darken for the top layer.

    And it`s done!

    Here`s my final result:Lightning Twirl
You can add text in the middle, I did that to make wallpaper for my WinXP Here
I used some blending options for text. Go on - experiment! Or use some of the text tutorials here.

Even though I make alot of my tutorials from twirls, twirls are way overused, but nonetheless, good job.
