Well this sunday, i bought a Modem, its a Motorola. It doesnt seem to work. I hooked it up, followed all the directions and everything. I think it might be because i have 2 different connections under Network Connections. Wireless and strait...
Anyone think they can help me out? Im sick of wireless, and ide also like to hook it up to a router also. Thanks.

when you say modem, do you mean an DSL modem or a standard modem style of thing?
Normaly yuo have a switch, and a modem. someimes a switch is refered to as a hub. A router is a gateway device between the internet and your private network, if you have more than one computer.
Normaly you connect the DSL modem to your router, and your router manages the connection to your ISP. The router is in turn connected to your switch (or it is a switch as well).
For WiFi (wireless) you have an access point. this can be part of the router as well.
In my case I have a modem (DSL) hooked up to a switch/hub. I have a access point for wiFi that conencts to the switch. The base station can be a router as well, but i have configued it to be only a access point. Only cause I had problems getting it to work as a router (dont know why, maybe a firmware issue).
Give me a rundown on what gear you have, and tell me which type of internet service you get as well as how many computers you have and how they can connect (or how you would like them to connect).

How does the modem connect to your pc, via a usb cable, via a cat-5 cable or via a switch/hub?
Well i downloaded the manual and it told me stuff all.
Best thing to do is describe what you have set up in network settings, the name of the conenctions and the properties for each descripion.
It sounds to me like that you have to tell the modem to manually dial, however your on cable, not adsl so i'm not sure how to go about it.
Best bet is to contact your ISP or have a gander at their web site. They're certain to have information about how to set it up. also their tech support (call centre) will be able to guide you through setting up the connection.

I can either connected VIA Usb or CAT5...I installed the USB Driver and that didnt do shit. Im actually thinking about setting it to my PS2, maybe it is just my computer. I hope so. Thats the main reason i got it. Im also gonna try their website. I luckly found the reciet today so if it doesnt work, ill return it and get all money back. Hopefully i do not have to do that though.

Why did you have to buy a modem? Doesnt your provider give you one when you register?
I'd call your ISP and motorola support.

Yeah we have one downstairs, my moms anti doing anything and doesnt let me drill a hole through the back of the kitchen and bring a cord up that way. Ide seal everything up 2. I dont get it.

Umm.... i didn't think you could use two cable modems unless the cable company has provided two seperate cable runs to your house.
You would be better off using Wireless or physical cables from the one point. Most WiFi's are both an access point and a router, so you just need the modem and wireless access point. Some even have a modem built intothe wireless access point. Otherwise you need a seperate switch to run cat5/cat6 cables from the switch up to your room.
