It's happened to me, and I know a lot of people who do it. You can't trust too many sites with your credit card info. The internet just isnt secure.

I just heard of some one who used a comp. at a cyber-cafe
to pay a bill. And Bingo bango no more denero.
And when AOL 1st came out, it was more simple, hackers
would pose as AOL security and ask to verify someones account
with their credit card #. Umm...kind of dumb, but so is middle America (the red states at least;P

spyware and pishing are the biggest problems. i used to program merchant services for a web site and had to write fraud prevention to stop people trying to determine if a credit card was valid.
Often if a credit card is stolen, they go online and try to use it to see if its still valid. if it is then they will go out and buy stuff.
Other times they use number generators to generate credit card numbers, and then use a script to process the numbers generated through a web site that has online billing. If it is successful then they know they got a winning combo and burn it onto a card.
Some workers at places like resturants will use a card reader to swipe your plastic. You should never let it out of your site.
So even if your careful, it doesn' mean your safe.

Get a good banker company, and don't use credit cards. Most bankers provide fraud insurance/ free fraud protection. So that if it happens, you get your money back for free.
Don't every make a purchase that you think could be faulty.

it's ok he has the money back from the bank now, but it's just sooo annoying to think that this person thinks they have the right to do it, it's so revaulting <_<
