Shanghai is China's most modernized city, but still retains alot of historical buildings in a certain area: Nanshi district, the old Chinese city. Although most buildings are only semi-old reproductions, others are much older, like the Yuyuan Gardens (serpent wall/serenity/huxingting) are from late Ming period (1500s). All built in the same Ming-style that Europeans loved so much.

These are crazy. I LOVE ancient chinese buildings. They're beautiful ^.^ , did you see any temples?

That first building is mental! and the one on the water. And the dragon one! You have a good eye for views. And a nice camera. =)

Teahouse, serenity.. those 2 are my favourites ^.^ And the Serpent Wall.

My camera is decent, 4megapixels, not the best.
I'm glad you like them, We did go to a Buddhist temple in Shanghai, but no pictures were allowed. There are alot of temples in Suzhou, which is sometimes called the 'Venice of the East' because of its canals.

I like the angle in the first one. I agree, some look a bit smudged but they are nice shots. Seems pretty cool there although I've never been to that part of China before.

the content of the photos are great between the architecture and all. the composition could use a little work, though. i noticed in both of the China sets you posted you tend to center your subject a lot when it would often look better off to one side or the other. if you heard about the rule of thirds, you know what i mean, but again no one's to say the rule can't be broken.

i just think for instance in the shot onGuard, that the composition could be improved by positioning the guard on the left of the frame, because the way that he is looking, the eye naturally follows to the right of the frame anyways. great pics, must have been a cool trip.
