After many hours of work. I've finished my planet.
I started working on this because A/ I've never tried space art
B/ None of my other work is ocming out right atm.
But i think i've found a new style ^.^

Original image size : 3000x3500

I worked on a large scale. Well it's large for colouring etc >.< The texture. IS NOT just one image copied onto the planet. I spent around a hour getting just the right patterns and tones on that. I'll show a seperate image of it - As 3/4 is covered by the planet's shadow.

This is Work In Progress. I'll use this planet (it'll be smaller obviously) in a scene.
Yesh i know about the bit of yellow on the left of the planet. I'll delete that before i do the big peice.

The lights are cities - I'll write a story or something to go with the big peice later on.

*fingers crossed that Crofty's art is liked*

I also need to sort out the lights. Because they look ilke they're hovering slightly. Floating city anyone? Maybe i'll spherize them or dim them latter on.

If it does not display. Right click, View Image.

The texure - ( still on planet. No atmosphere / shadows )

Et Voila.

Commente?

Well, you didn't do much actually. When creating a planet, the only thing that takes time is creating the texture. It looks just like you just took a moon map, threw it onto the planet layer and spherized it. Sorry. :/
The city lights aren't that good either. They should follow the texture, but it looks like you just took a white brush and clicked randomly.
I think you should concentrate on creating a new planet with a better texture instead of going straight to nebulae and stuff, which is pretty much harder. If you haven't read it, read Alyns planet tutorial. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/11885274/

Keep on trying, hope to see more. ^^

I did use a moon map. Along with 2 other maps. And some other layers. but i didn't draw the texture nay. And i said i'm going to work on the lights. I just wanted to see how they looked with that.. type of planet.

Thanks. Alyn rocks =). I'll try another planet tonight / tomorrow.
