Just wondering does resolution affect the speed of the pc, i was thinking having it on say 1600x1400 may be slightly quuicker because the gfx card has to display a little less, but then again it just means the pixels are smaller dont it? so that aint right?
-
I think the bigger the resolution, then the slower the pc would perfrom because there's more to display.
-
The detail is increased when the resolution is increased.
But everything is smaller.
So it probably evens out.
Do better GFX cards, allow a better resolution?
-
Yep, i have massive monitor and can only get 1600x1400 so i think so...
Then again i have a 16mb graphics card and i can get 1600x1400?
If i put so much thinking into exams as i do on the void id be A*

WEll.. your monitor comes with a standard size. Because they display them on sites.. the highest resolution. But with graphics cards, they display resolution sizes aswell...
-
Monitors come with a maximum resolution on the basis of display modes. They include resolution, color, refresh rate and all that funky jazz.
I don't believe that video cards have a huge influence over screen resolution. Video cards have "optimized performance for high resolutions" But don't create new display modes.

ive got a pretty nice graphics card, and i use 800x600... im leet.
This is me.

You shoul dhave it as high as it goes really... 800x600 sucks. Alot of art will look bad quality on that, or just everything is too big. If you have a nice card then have it high...
-
If you use a high resolution during gaming, the game will play alot slower, depending on your video card.
Anything like a 6800, or higher won't really be affected by this. But older cards, you should use a lower resolution. (no higher then 1024x768)
Monitors can go all the way up 2048x1200. Most new grpahics cards can easily acheive making that resolution, but many monitors don't support such a high resolution.
Here's a good source.
