I've got a question...

My dad's comp got 1024mb DDR Ram... It's fricken fast when I play BF2 and CoD2...

But... Is it useful to have like 1536 Ram (for rendering C4D stuff, or something like that)? Does it use optimal RAM when rendering or only the necesary RAM...?

RAM is non permanent / non physical memory. A programme uses up a certain amount of RAM when you open it. If you have too much open.. then your pc will fuck up because you have no / little RAM left. If you have lots free then it'll run faster obviously.
It's late and i probably helped about this much >>-------> . <--------<<

And ii probably got everything wrong

The more ram the better. If you have the correct ram, add it. It make the pc run much faster =)

K... Coz I'm going to make my own pc when I got all the money... It's cheaper when you build it yourself, and better! :P

yeah, i have like 488 ram or some weird number, and WoW lags like anything when i enter a main city. fps goes down to 0 for about 10 seconds.

It is always best to have as much RAM as possible. But at a point it's uselessly excessive. 1GB is probably as high as you'll need to go these days.

Dale was pretty accurate with his description of RAM. All that RAM does is store information temporarily. The reason they use RAM instead of the hard drive is because it is much much faster. So, what happens when you run out of free RAM? Your computer starts writting that information to a part of your hard drive called the "swap". That is why a computer often bogs down when alot of things are running at the same time. The hard drive's speed is much lower than the RAM's speed. One way to check if you need more RAM is to run the applications you think will take up the most RAM. Like a video game or whatever. Then hit CTRL+ALT+Delete to pop-up the Windows Task Manager. Click the Performance tab, and look under physical memory. Make sure that "Available" is above 50,000. If it's near that or not that then you probablhy need more RAM.

Make sure you're motherboard can support the amount of memory you want to do.
