What do you think? If this starts getting heated i will start trying to prove some of the bible. Such as the flood.

err. you should include something like a mixture of true and stories.

I think it is true, but was all written metaphorically.

For the most part I believe that the stories itself are fictionalized. Even if the events may have actually happened.

There may be archaelogical evidence of A flood, but it cant be narrowed down to be the Great Flood.

Many stories in religion are influenced by older religions.
The story of Noah and the flood has surprising similarities to Greek myth:

The Story of Deucalion and Pyhhra... Zeus was travelling in human form, when he met Lycaeon (wolf-like). Lycaeon somehow knew it was a god he was housing and tried outwit him by killing his servant and cooking him to feed Zeus. When Zeus saw through this (he sees through everything roflrofl) he was so disgusted at the human race because of Lycaeon's actions.

Lycaeon was transformed into a half-wolf (the first werewolf in literature), and Zeus prompted to wipe out man with the help of Poseidon. The great floods killed almost everyone but the most rightous man and his wife: Deucalion and Pyhrra.

Both stories had to do with a great deluge intent on purging mankind
Both had an ark (thats how Deucalion and Pyrrha survived)

Flood myths are a very recurring theme in myth, there is no doubt that there was a great Flood if several religions say there was, but don't expect the story behind it to be true.

I think that most people know that the bible isnt real, that its a collection of stories used to explain things. It's all symbol.

I don't think this is really a valid question because a portion of the bible did indeed happen. Most of it are fantasy, sure, but to classify it as a book of fiction is a bit much.

The bible, as we know it today, is actually not what Jesus and his followers wanted to get out. It has been through so many revisions, versions, cencorships. It's been twisted by politicians of old to get across some agenda or some other belief. It's a bit stupid for anybody today to actually believe what the bible has to say.

I'm not relegious, for the record.
