Hey do you guys know what causes the start menu to scroll open and scroll close so slow. Like when I click start and all programs then click desktop it takes about a minute and ahalf to disappear.
-
low system resources. the most likely problem is that you've got a bunch of useless programs running in the background. run spybot and adaware, get rid of everything that comes up. and go to trendmicro.com use housecall for free and scan your system for virii. if that doesn't fix it then try uninstalling all the junk you've got running constantly like weatherbug or etc.

I've used adaware and this is a brand new hard drive just got it up 2 days ago. I always take programs off my start up when they install. So only sound, common files, and antivirus programs are running.
So atm not much is running that's why I can't figure out why it's slow.

copy and paste your currently running apps (CTRL+ALT+DEL)

Do a Start>Run>msconfig
...if you haven't done so already.
Go to Startup to see how many things actually do run when you boot up.
For a list of possible things you may find in Startup go to:
http://www.lafn.org/webconnect/mento...p/PENINDEX.HTM
It also tells you what the dealy-os are used for, so you don't mess anything up :P

Yeah I've tried that, normally it works well I only run 4 things MSASCui, ccApp, UrlLstCk, ctfmone.
I just called my local computer store :P and so I'll try a few things they said hope it works cuz this start menu slows down a lot of things.
