    Default Multiple Strokes (non-destructive)

This is a basic tutorial on how to do multiple strokes on a single layer (most effective on text), without losing the original layer style data (i.e. not merging with a new layer to add the second stroke).

-Type some text with the type tool, and open up the layer styles window and select stroke (Layer > Layer Styles > Stroke...)

-This will be the first stroke, you can experiment with any of the settings here; I chose 2 px size, outside position, normal blend mode, 100% opacity, and white color.

-For the second stroke, select outer glow from the layer styles selection. Again, you can experiment with the settings here, except for spread, which should be set to 100%. My settings were normal blend mode, 100% opacity, 0% noise, black color, 100% spread, 4 px size, and default quality.

    Here is my result:

All I did in addition was add a gradient overlay. Also, it's possible to add a third stroke with a drop shadow at 0 px distance and 100% spread, though it didn't look too great; two strokes is enough I believe. The converse of this tutorial is possible, and that can be done with an inner stroke and an inner glow with similar settings.
