Corel Paint Shop Pro XI

Hi,

I just bought this software and I'm a newb to the whole editing aspect of everything ... I just recently took some pictures of my daughter at the park and would like to do the whole image black/white (which is really easy to do) but she has an 'apple' logo on her shirt that I want to keep the colour too ... can you give me any advice as how to do this? Do I need to create a layer, etc? Thanks!

Hum.. I'm not fimiliar with Corel software, but I'll take a shot.

Duplicate the image in to two layers.

Look for a "deasturate" option. This will turn the whole image black.

Then take the other layer, and cut out the apple with some selection tool. Then place it above the black and white layer.

Thats like a sure-way to do it in any software. =P

what would be the better/easier program to do this with?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

that looks great! I just wish the 'apple' was a little brighter then the black and white to really stand out ... what program did you use? Thanks for trying!!

I'll do it again mate no worries, I used Photoshop CS2. I wouldn't buy it btw...its a bit pricey for something you can download.
