Glass Ball - attempt 1
I was always disappointed with glass ball tutorials on the net because they never turned out to be realistic at all. So i set out on my own to try and find some means of creating a real-looking glass ball.
After sitting for a few days looking at a glass ball placed upon the earth of my back yard, i finally came up with attempt 1

cruitique please.

glass ball looks good but u made a huge mistake. no shadow under the ball. there is shadow around it but not under it. might wana fix that.
-
Think it was just a perspective thing, but i see your point.

Yeah fix that, and it looks very nice =)
Should write a tut on that

Whoa, great job. The only thing is what the others mentioned about the shadow. Maybe a reflection of something looking down at it would be cool or a ray of light from the sun bouncing off of it. How long did this take you?

Took me about 20 minutes. It's actually so easy you'll kick yourself.
I set out to make it as quick to do as possible as well.

That's pretty cool, I've seen some tutorials like that. Did you do that with liquify? Looks nice, aside from what's already been mentioned.

I take it, a white cirlc eon low opacity with loads of blending options, and not sure bout the rest.
That polar thing maybe?
-
Loads of blending options? LOL! nah. one blending option, two layer styles, polar coordinates bit of 3d transform and that was it.
You'll find out tomorrow when i finish the tutorial.
