    Default Data error:(cylic redundency check) Guys does anyone know how to fix this error?

    I was trying to install a game of a dvd cd that my friend game and when l try to drag a specific file to my desktop that error comes up does anyone know how to fix this.Help greatly appreciated

    cyclic redundancy check has something to do with your CD drive. I used to have that problem when copying from my crappy old CD-R - best advice to eject and re-insert the disk

    CRCs check for errors on your CDs/hard discs etc. It makes sure the data being read is the exact data that was written. During writing, it calculates a checksum for a chunk of data.( Which is really neat how it calculates the checksum (finite field/Galois field arithmetic).)

    When it comes to the reading, it does it again and if the checksum is different you have an error.

    So there could be so many ways something can go wrong in the writing and reading process of your disc. Could be a faulty/damaged DVD, dirt in the writer/reader, bad writer/reader. List goes on and on.
