thoughts? I know it may be kinda plain looking, but it helps with a dark background behind it. Shows more bg details.

don´t like that girl =)
the BG and tihgting is very good. that effect on the bottom of the render doesn´t look like it should be there. i like the sig.

both, actually. Along with duplicate renders. Mainly, I use the scatter smudge brushing on on few copies of the render, set that to different blend modes, then go back and apply a few filters(usually distort type), etc.
Most of anything anyone does that turns out nice is purely a result of lots and lots of experimenting. I truly cant say I use any one technique everytime, except I DO tend to use CS2's scatter smudge ability.
