RaD's Portfolio, Restyled! :)
This is no advertisement..!
Ok so, I decided not to take it slow and I revamped my whole site.
It still needs some work, but I'm getting there
Before it was green/cyan, now it is black and white. I am planning on making another one in white and black (so the negative) but that will come later on.
My portfolio also has a new link, gone with the free .tk, in with the new .nl!
So Check out my portfolio at:
www.radfolio.nl
What I have changed:
Colors
Instead of the ugly green/cyan color scheme I now went for the Black/white one.
I chose these colors because I think they fit best as background for a site where you show GFX. Green can make some color sigs look ugly (eg. red vs green = no go).
Buttons
New 'flashy' buttons have been added. Also instead of using pictures as buttons for the content buttons They are now solid colors.
Banner
Of course with a new lay-out a new banner is required. The current banner IS new but doesn't really fit the colors. Maybe some color changes in both banner and site will be added.
Guestbook
The guestbook has been taken offline because of spam posts becoming worse every day. I'm trying to get a new Guesbook online as soon as possible
Menu bar
I've also added a new menu bar to the right of the content, this says the same as the menu bar under the banner. I'm trying to think up something to put in the menu instead, like forums or something like that.
Hope you like it

(eg. red vs green = no go).
Heh, true - but if you wish something to stand out, they are complimentary and are the best thing to show contrast =]
And.. this is practically advertising. Most of us havent seen your old one - why not post a screenshot? And the text here is copied from the website itself..
Anyway, critique. To me it seems like a website of mixed styles, and certain things dont work. First off, its very.. windows 98. I dont know what it is, but usually a plain website looks good - this just looks plain, and old. Maybe once again changing the colors round might work - a lighter scheme perhaps? Maybe changing the gray for one of the greens in the banner might look good, I dont know, but blue and green are analogous colors, so should work together well here.
Uhrrm, the flash buttons are okay, the bevel is huge. Nice rollover effect.. hrm, as soon as the page loaded, I looked straight at the "GFX Grotto" affiliate button. Its ugly as fuck, I'd either remove it (which you dont want to do) or move the affiliates section, further off the page - at the bottom perhaps?
Uhrrrm, ah yes. You dont need two navigations, have either the horizontal or vertical. Id suggest the horizontal - fits better. On the left you could fill in with recent news, or recent artwork - maybe a shoutbox or forums link or something =]
It probably seemed as if that was quite a harsh critique, but its in my nature - I'm sure the site has developed well, and It doesnt look too bad at all atm, just doesnt have that wow factor

It's the other way around, the text on the site is copied from this thread.
If you want i can post a screenshot. No problem for me.
I am working on a better lay out, but with the current coding its a little difficult (because my brother coded it cause im not that good in Php )
Those are no flash buttons, just plain html coded buttons, 2 images, 1 grey the other blue, simple rollover script et voila.
I agree with the affiliate, but that person payed me for 'featuring' that affiliate, I will take it off as soon as his time is over.

Try reading.....

If you could make the side navigation bars scroll down the page with the user that would be quite cool.
It's alright imo, however a little boring. Not much use saying anything after rob hah...
-
Hm, you have to remember that IE6 still accounts for something like 35% of browser coverage - and for some reason those rollovers don't seem to work....
Disks are always full. It is futile to try to get more disk space. Data expands to fill any void.
-
That's not my problem. I use FF and it works perfect there.
-
"IE6 still accounts for something like 35% "
like a third of the people wont see them..
-
Besides, I only post this link on GFX forums, 90% of the people here and on other forums use FF and the other 10% uses IE7.
