Nothing did a lot to sprite but you have add a lot of work to bg... nice work... BUT I think basic object must be not BG but render...

well the bg is very nice, but as Garis pointed out the render could have been done better. Maybe you should have found a sprite there was just a tad bigger

the sprite itself looks slightly over contrasted IMO...
Sprite stands out too much IMO...

look up king of fighters sprites in google images. They are nice and tall.
