Another trip to..
The old Farmhouse. I love this place, everytime I go I enjoy myself so much..kinda creepy i know, but i like getting pictures of old buildings and stuff, like these. I shot these all last weekend but due to finals I haven't had time to edit all of 'em till now.
This first photo is on Dev art. Let me know if I should put any of the others on Deviantart as well.
Btw, I tried really hard to zoom in more so i don't get distortion, like i have had in my past photos, please tell me if i succeeded.
Outlet?

The funniest thing with this first one is the outlet. I didn't even notice it until afterwards..Shows my attention to detail while shooting :P. I just thought it was funny because the outlet is like perfectly preserved and the rest of the building is like falling apart.
Open window

Home Sweet Home

Thanks.

Awesome. I like the details in your photos. They're so sharp.
My fav must be Home Sweet Home. Love it. U should upload it on dev art
Keep on shooting. Awesome photos

I love the first and the last, not so fond of the middle. I too wanna have such buildings in our country. but i love how you can almost count the years in the first photo. I dont know what else to say than i like it, i am not qualified to give a detailed critic.

Lovely pictures. There are very sharp! I like them all, especially the last one. A lot of stuff going on and still very calm image. I love the lightning and the colors. Great job! Btw, I must commit the first one is quite robgasmstyle :P
-
buy my understanding the top one is taken from the outside (externally) and looks like it's not on the ground floor so WTF with the plug socket
anyhoo back on topic, third one stands out to me as the better one, the second one bugs me slightly as theres two much underneath the window, 1st ones good nice colour to it

Wow, Thanks a lot
@Silent - Thanks, Home sweet home was the initial shot i was going there for, but the quality didn't impress me very much so i didn't upload that, however with the great response, i might.
@deamon - Thanks, You can find buildings like that anywhere you just have to look hard. It's easy to find it when your in a suburban/rural area like me.
@Pleymo - Thanks for the awesome comments, I used martin's sharpening technique (with the high pass) Only i didn't do the 50% contrast on any of them afterwards, cause it seems to me it brings out too much grain.
@Ragidy - Lol, haha it is outside, but your wrong on the floor. It's the first floor., however they have a basement on the house, and it is on a hill, so the architecture based on that might have thrown you . Thanks

The first I would say has too much contrast, just a slight bit. I dunno, it still works well
I like the second, its a nice perspective but it would've been nicer with the whole window frame in the shot?
The third is excellent, That place looks aweeesome It seems a bit soft in areas (foreground detail and roof detail) but that may be the lens. What lens do you use? I can find out the optimum aperture for the sharpest you can get for you.
Infact, the third is pretty much, soft. Did you shoot with the lens wide open? Or it could be it was not properly focused. Also, I wouldve sorted the perspective and straightened the left hand side of the centre door frame, then cropped about 50-100 pixels off the left.
Nice place and colours though

WOw thanks for the great comment rob. I was using the kit lens i got with my 350d, it's the 18 - 55mm I'm pretty positive. I'll have to check that in a few minutes.
You are right though I shot with the aperture just wide open. :\ Not exactly the smartest thing.
The second, It would have been nicer your right, however when I initailly shot it I had it perfectly, but just as i was shooting i guess my hands moved (i lack a tripod right now). ANd when i got back i realized i not only missed the edges but it was also diagonal kinda. So i had to crop it and straighten it to make it looks decent.
Thanks, for the in-depth critique Next time I'll try and be smarter about my apertures, And you will definetly see more of the place.
Btw what is the sharpest aperture for the 18 -55mm?

http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/Cano...review?start=1
scroll to resolution
its generally F/8
The canon kit lens is crap :P
If you have money to spare
Well, I dont really know canon too well
but the 50mm F/1.8 is CHEAP and NICE
the f/1.4 is alot more for just one stop, even though its better.
-
ALright I'll keep that in mind, thanks rob
