1st - The scan lines are a draw back.
The colors go well with the render.
The text stands out a bit too much though.
I would try to place the render a little bit closer to the middle, maybe 30-50 pixels? This will make for better composition, you should read up a bit on that.
Finally the sig is really enormous compared to the relatively small size of the render, next time try to make it a bit more proportionate. When your still learning, and getting the hang of things you should try to go with smaller sig sizes, it'll make it easier to fill it up, and look nicer. I wouldn't go much farther than 350 x 150, even then thats really big compared to my standards.
Not bad however, practice is what will make you better, so the more sigs you make the easier it will become.
2nd - The colors need to blend together more. The render should not be that light of an opacity either especially since it is the focal point.
I would recommend checking out a few tuts, Deamon's tuts are awesome, and when I was first starting out I learned a lot for Ilovecoheed's tutorial. tutorials will help you pick up techniques a lot easier.
I hope you benifit from my lengthy critique if you need more help, just ask.
