Gradients are not smooth anymore

A few days ago I started another project and noticed my gradients were terrible quality. The larger they are the worse it looks, and I am not sure why. I have been using Photoshop for years and now all of the sudden the gradients suck. Here is a picture of a gradient. It is in JPEG format and the quality is set to maximum. Thanks in advance for the help.

Oh and I did try dither, but gradients are still not smooth as they should be.

I don't see any gradients, just a black rectangle.

Antidote, get your monitor calibrated.

So you didn't change any settings and still it just turned out like this? That's pretty weird.. Did you try reinstalling? I've never ran into this problem before...

COuld it be the case that either

a) bit depth in PS has been lowered (to say 8bpp), hence the gradients dont look fluid

b) your screen / gfx settings have been reduced to 8bpp

c) gfx card is not installed correctly / driver has been corrupt or uninstalled

Does this only happen in PS?

Make sure image sample is set to bi-linear on photoshop

Will fix it for you.
