Yeah I think someone made a video tut on that type of brushing, never really been a fan of using clouds because more often that not newbie's don't brush enough and the background just remains like clouds lol.

lol noobie here, and that isn't how i do it...its a good idea, but what i do is make a black bg. then new layer, do brushing in white. new layer, brushing in black...merge the black and white(not the full black bg) and do color balance. and repeat that....
