hehe they do look really similar, especially the sides.

about the layout... Id say lose the scanlines on it all, and get a new banner. Try making a banner on your own (without that stuff found on google ) you know, from scratch. take a couple screenshots or something and touch them up until they look quality and use that. the borders/titles are a bit boring and the colors are a little bland. Apart from being similar to the other one, the sides are distracting (you want attention on the your content, not the left and right edges). Get rid of the font on the banner O_o over all its too simple and the colors need some spicing up. Keep working on it

ps- if your getting paid for it, that would be illegal as is being that you didnt make those characters in the banner yourself and you didn't get permission to use them for commercial use (or for use at all). youd have big copyright issues there. i mentioned screenshots and thats a bad idea as well if your going to make a profit. I suggest making something yourself from scratch and if you want some images to use if you cant, then use free stock images and manipulate them to get what you want.

Layouts great, banner works good, not to keen on border, text in banner needs changining, but i carnt take it away from you the layout is superb, nice result..
