he didn't make the renders, he did the brushing.

Although these are your first two, I have to encourage you to find your own style. Don't take this as an insult, take it as helpful advice This type of 3d abstract has been done a million times and then done again. It looked good the first few times, but all of them ended up looking exactly the same. If you still want to do abstract I suggest that you learn how to do 3d and come up with your own style of 3d abstract, like this:

    http://www.deviantart.com/view/8483242/
    http://www.deviantart.com/view/9150545/

If you don't want to do that, then I suggest shying away from 3d abstract and do some brushing abstract (purely brushing) or some vector abstract.

About the pieces themselves: the biggest thing is that you have to work on making the brushing blend in with the render. At the moment, it sticks out way too much. If you look at both of them, aside from different renders and different colors, its basically the same thing. The brushing is still depicts the renders like they are exploding or something. You need to diversify and come up with your own ideas (back to my first point). On the first one, stay away from the pen tool lines, they never look good (rarely does anybody make them work well). Keep at it, but at least consider my advice.
