The rose is great but the stem is killing it for me. Did you just apply a cut out filter to the stem? Thats what it kind of looks like..not saying thats what you done though, just looks like you did.

Anyways if you worked on the stem a bit more I would love. Great job on the top half though.

Did you vector over an image of a rose and then apply the cutout filter for the stem (not necessarily in that order)? It looks like thats what was done. Id say take more time doing the stem because right now it brings down the image. If youre making a wallpaper, you should make it at like 1600x1200 or 1280x960 because nobody uses 800x600 these days. Especially not people that do art.

    he does ^ lol.
and it's not that hard to put it in the center and have a nice soft color around it. best for desktops if u ask me.
    just a tip.

and no ive seen how he does his work. he uses pics as refference, he doesn't vector over images, whats the point of that.

I keep saying vector, was this done in illustrator or photoshop?
If in photoshop, then its not a true vector.
Anyway, I agree about there being no point in "vectoring" over images, but many people do it so I just thought I'd ask.
