Cutting Things out

What do people ususally use? Like wouldnt you use just lasso tool? Im just curious...Because last time I cut something out of a picture I used that

You can use the Polygon lasso too (what I use) or the pen tool, those are the two best for rendering...

Then do you just save them as .png?

Yea, save them as a png w/transparent background, or save them as .jpg on the HIGHEST quality (12) and make sure when saving it as a jpg, that it has a colored background so you can use the magic wand tool to delete the background.
