Has anyone heard of/like the band Freezepop? They are a really odd band. They are a proper band, with instrument players and lead singer and drummer and stuff, but they don't play "real" instruments! They play electric drumkits rather than real ones, and they use keyboards and things like electric glockenspiels. Their lead singer has a really strange voice, she hits all of the notes but it sounds like she's singing with no effort at all.

LOL, I'm listening to it now. It reminds me of Figurine alittle bit. Which is probably one of my fav bands...though that might make me a nerd. If you like them you should check out figurine.
http://www.epitonic.com/artists/figurine.html thats a sample or two.

Anyways I like it though it is kind of fruity. ^_^

I have a lot of Figurine too :P I like em... They are really... I dunno! All bands like this seem really "wiggly". The thing I like about Freezepop more than Figurine is the more harmonic vocals and fitting synth lines, but I guess Figurine have some too :P If I am listening to them though, I tend to switch to Aphex Twin or some other music by Richard D. James because it pretty much directly leads onto it, it's the "next step" in Electronica! :P

Yeah i'm still listening to the 2 or 3 songs they have on the site and are really liking them so far. They seem to have a better production quality than Figurine as well. Its not as rough around the edges I guess.

Though I haven't heard of Aphex Twin or Richard D. James I'm going to look them up in a minute. I just kind of found Figurine while looking for postal serivce songs and couldn't find any other bands like them, even though I spent awhile searching.

Anything else I should look into?

Also I looked at the Metric site and couldn't get any of samples to work

Maybe you should check out The servant, not really the same style but its still pretty nice.

@ ana: Aphex Twin and Richard D James are one and the same. id recommend checking out the CD Druqks by him. figurine is sounding pretty cool, could you link to freezepop? always into something new and different

also, if you want some different sounding techno look into Mum or Royksopp, theyre at the top of my list along with a lot of other electronica.
