can't get it to load.. i'll edit this post later with a comment..

    EDIT:

Pretty good for a 1st try.. But...

    Starfield
The repitition of the patterns of the stars just throws it off... try to clone more.. with different shapes.. Too much stars too.. Try using more empty space..
Add more stuff to it (space dust, nebulas etc) a more variety of colours in the star field would look better too..

    Planet
Try to use a colour that fits with the starfield.. Stands out too much imo..
Try moving the it to the middle and fix the lighting.. Too boring atm..

    Overall.. Keep working on it..

that looks pretty nice man. good job especially for a first...
planet is ok even though i think it would serve better as more of the focal point... the starfield is a little too repetitive and throw in some more colors... some space phenomena have crazy colors - greens, reds, purples, etc..

I don't have much more to add, because Lumix said basically what I was going to. A couple of things I would like to say about the planet though:

Contrast - The planet is lacking this. Use the levels gauge to fix it.
Texture - Not enough... It's quite flat looking and not as interesting as it could be.
