Hey everyone ^^
Im asking this cause im on photoshop 7.0.1, and currently im having a problem cause I cant use many of the great brushes that are travelling the web...
Cant we decompress the .abr from a compatible version of a friend that has CS or CS2? If yes, can we compress it back on 7.0.1? And how?
Thanks

ahhh i've heard that some people can help yo convert them down.. dunno how to though
-
Yes, thats exactly what I want to do... friends deconvert them and send me the images and i re-build the .abr
Isnt there is a compressor/decompressor?
-
I got CS2 now ^^
But if someone could answer , maybe it would help other people?
-
Probably not because the fileformat changed too much, dont know anything about brushes though i'll have a look at the format specifications maybe there is hope
EDIT:
I cant find the specifications, without that its impossible to write a converter.

Another question : do you know how to make brushes or do you know a tutorial that teach it?
-
You could possibly use them on a new document and save them after clicking them once on a different layer. Then open in ps7 and save them as brushes.....

theres a tut on brushmaking around here somewhere....check the tutorial archive.
also, all i know about brush making is that you can do whatever in photoshop, then save it as a custom brush in the edit options.

Millions of tuts on brushmaking, it's one of the prime tutorial subjects.
To fix the brush, you'll have to load it onto a version of photoshop that it is compatible with, brush a transperant layer, take that to an old version of photoshop, and 'define brush preset'. You have to do that for every brush, which is a pain in the ass. You'd think somebody would have made a macro or something, but I haven't seen one. .

I found a tutorial on how to convert from like CS2 to 7.0...
It's basicly the same as Spluff said although in a tutorial with pictures xD
Might be of use to someone
