Ok so like, I made these cool renders. And I couldn't apply any materials because my comp can't render them. So I had to use no materials. How can I make them look better or do something in photoshop?

Are renders only things done in programs like C4D or can they/are they made in PS? What exactly is a render? I mean I see these things everyone is calling a render but in reality it looks like they have just taken an image of someone else's work, cut it, then used it as their on. That is not what I call a render. A true render that you can call yours IMO is something you draw on paper, scan in as line art, then paint in in PS or something. Please explain what you guys are calling renders exactly. Thanks in advance.

When you are in a situation like this, a render is a 3d image (abstract/landscape/model) that is made in a 3D program. When people call a render something that they cut out, well, that's not the right way to use the word render. People just use it like that. But thats not the real purpose for the word. The reason the 3D images are called renders is, because you render them lol. I'm don't know all the details and stuff, but this should clear things up. I'm not sure about the one you said. All I know (well, not really ALL I know) is that everyone uses the word differently. If you are someone who makes C4D, you call that stuff a render. If you cut out images's backgrounds, you call that a render. If you draw it/scan it/color is, then you call that a render. So we should all just be more specific on how we use the word "render".

Damn, that's got to be one of the longest posts that I've ever written! ...sad isn't it?
