As the topic says, has anyone been in the army? is there a mandatory service period for all citizens in your country?

True, this is the wrong forum...hopefully someone who can move it will see that soon.

The reason I asked is because I draft in about a month. Around here guys have a 3 year mandatory service period, and girls have 2. On top of that, many prestigious roles require you to sign for a longer time in order for you to reach the officer ranks etc...
