Not too sure about the white bits on the BG. It looks like random brushing to me, no offense. Text doesn't go very well either, but nonetheless, good try for a first sprite tag (:

It looks good, but technically I think the whole background doesn't look anywhere near a sprite...It's in fact TOO detailed and TOO, lets say, realistic, to fit a sprite focal. What usually looks good with a sprite would be more solid colored, wild cartoon colors.

Despite having said that, the lighting and the smudging look great :P
