Installing Brushes in Adobe Photoshop

1. Download and unzip the brushes file:

2. Right click on the .abr file within the brushes folder you've just unzipped:

select "copy"
3. Navigate to your Program Files>Adobe>Photoshop>Presets>Brushes folder (on your hard drive):

4. Right click inside the brushes folder and select "paste" to save a copy of the brushes file in the presets folder.

5. In Adobe Photoshop, select your brush tool in the tool palette, then click the arrow that brings the flyout menu within the brush tool palette:

6. Select "Load Brushes":

7. Browse to the brush file you just copied to the preset folder and click it.

Creating and Saving Brushes

Some features of Adobe Photoshop aren't backwards compatable, so brushes created in CS won't load correctly in other versions of Photoshop. In this case, brush sets from the Digital Scrapbook Place also contain the actual transparent .png files used to create the original brush set - you can create your own brushes with these files!
1. Open the individual .png file in your Photoshop program

2. Select Edit>Define Brush Preset

3. Click "okay" to accept the file name as the name of your new brush:

4. Repeat the process for each of the transparent .png files in the brush folder you've just downloaded.

5. After you've created all the individual brushes from the folder, you'll want to save the set. Select Edit>Preset Manager:

6. Scroll down to locate the brushes you've created in the menu:
7. Select each brush that you'd like to save in the set by using the Shift key while clicking on the brush icon, then select "Save Set" and name the set of brushes with the same name as the downloaded set (for easy reference and crediting the designer later):
