Cool concept overall, but it needs some refining. It is simple, but there's nothing wrong with that. With the text, I would recommend simple default fonts like arial, gill sans light, times new roman, and the like. And also go have a gander at the tutorials. They'll open the door to some really sweet effects you can utilize. Anyways, nice early attempt, and looking forward to seeing more of your work around!

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. I realize it was simple, and that is what I was really shooting for. What I am missing is all my resources from chaosgfx that I used (brushes, gradient maps, etc) and I really had no idea what else to add to it.

Do what Aces said, that is some good advice.
The render looks a bit sharpened could be toned down more.
The light source is also very harsh.
Not too much glow on that text, keep it simple. :P

Thank you for your input! I knew the light was too much, I just wanted to expose some more contrast between the light and dark colors as in past and present, but it didn't quite work, it made the final product look rather overcooked.

Yeah, you know what you need to work on and that is great.
If you are really into GOW and you want to make a sweet tag, check out Immortal's GOW Tutorial.
And try out some of the other tutorials, you will improve!

    Aces compleltly nailed it.
USe default fonts. They will blend in better 99% of the time than downloadable fonts if you don't know how to use them.
WOrk on your backgrounds right now your BG is kind of smudged and a bit flat, make it really pop and go with the render.

    Overall not bad.
