[Help] Photoshop CS4

Hey, Im new here and im new to photoshop.

I was wondering how to select just an image. Like.. The renders on www.planetrenders.net.. I cant select just the image. And if i copy the whole render over to the backround i want it on. It has the black backround instead.

Sorry for no pics or anything.. Also if it doesnt make sense. Tell me because its late here and i get majorly confused when im tired
