I really dig the colours and effects man. The flow is good but I at first I could barely see the focal. It is too blended with BG. Try sharpening it. A bit plain but that works. Good job.

by focal you mean the main render right (master chief in this case)?

like is there too much smudging on the left side or does it blend too well because of the colors?

There is way too much smudging on the render.
Usually the focal isn't smudged very much, it's erased in parts and blended slightly.
Nice colours, but make sure that we can see the render clearly.
I also think you should raise the canvas height and lower the width.

ah, the v2 is much better now, but try to desaturate those c4d colors, they are eating up the renders color, orange in this case.
