Erasing The Parts You Dont Need?
Ok this is information I'm curious about due to a few things in photoshop, but mainly c4d's, when I add a c4d and need to erase some parts what would be the best way? As the Eraser and Marquee tool make it look silly and I tend to mess up with them.
Thanks.

Lower the opacity of the tool when using Eraser, it helps often or just use masks, masks are the best becuase they only hide image, not delete it, and when using masks try with different opacity/flow settings for the brush tool.

Here is a few tips:
1. When you are wanting to create some effects in your signature ("effect c4ds") you can just set the
layer to lighten or screen to get rid of any of the dark spots a keep the highlights.
2. Another option is to go in to the "channels" tab and select the channel that has the best black/white ratio.
Then, while holding CTRL, left click on the selected channel and you should see a selection.
Then go back to the top channel and go into your layers pallet and copy the selection.
You can do this with any of the channels depending on your needs and plans on the usage of the c4d.
3. If your just want to get rid of parts of the c4d, then you'll want to lower the opacity of the brush.
This way, you slowely erase portions of it and do a neater job.
Or you can use a mask and just make portions of it disappear. This way you can fix it later if see things you want to change

the best way or the method i use is actually the two already mentioned, when erasing parts of the c4d you erase the parts that may clutter the focal or detract from the flow in the sig or piece of work, sometime the colours might not match or the part of the c4d is too light or dark, so again erase.
When using clipping masks they can look cheap because sometimes it doesnt add anything and just looked like something add to the art, so when you apply the new image try to transform is upside down or back to front so the person can tell that its from the same piece of art but they cant match it up. This make your sig look more complex

masking! Basically here how it goes. Create a quick mask on your layer. A second box should pop up on the side of your layer thumbnail. Make sure that second box is selected.
To hide something on the sig, paint over it in black. it hides it. To unhide it paint it white. Its the same thing as erasing except you never lose the information.
Thats the ebst way to do it. Just paint over it and mask. Using a tablet for this helps a TON too.

grab the pentool, cover the area you don't need by making paths, fill it(on a layer on top)-> select the layer (ctrl+click on layer) -> go to the base layer and cut = done
