    Default clan orientation app

I do a bit of experimenting when I have free time, and the clan I play call of duty with always has opportunities for me to exercise those bits of free time productively. They always have a problem that needs solving, and I almost always come up with a web-based solution. This particular project proved to be very useful, both to the client and to me. Oftentimes, I choose to use mediums that seldom used in the workplace, and flash seemed to fit the bill. So I used flash.

You can find the project at: http://www.flashadvocate.com/clientel/209th/orient

Use the following answers to navigate the module:

    1. admin
    2. admin
    3. admin

The project called for an application that was intuitive and interesting to interact with. Alot of "ints" hah. The objective was to create an application that would inform new users about the clan they were going to be a part of. Brief introductions to all the major aspects of the community, a step by step process to each of the clan's nuances and 3rd party programs, and something catchy that would interest a younger audience. Overall, it's simple and it achieves the objective. Much better than some boring html page with lots of information.

I used as2 for this particular piece because I haven't quite made it into as3 just yet. I need to, but seeing as I didn't need any of the new features as3 is suited for, I stuck with as2. I used several different classes to achieve the effects I wanted. Flash provided the blur and glow filters you see being used in the "test" portion (try typing an incorrect answer), and Pippoflash provided the tweening class you see used to move the module left and right. I like this particular class because it's very dynamic and works well with simple parameters.

I did have a user agreement following the application, "the popup". So if you don't see that, it's because I left that portion out. It's just an html form that relays submissions to a text log, and to an email for recordkeeping. It didn't really add anything to this, so I left it out.

All in all, it was a good refresher to keep me on my toes. If anyone is interested in any of the functions I used to make this particular project work, I would be glad to show you how I did it. Just let me know.
