The Blade

[Cross Projection]

Tears streaming down my cheeks, my breath short, shallow and forced. The fear, the hopelessness, the darkness overcoming me. The want to no longer be here, strong, welcoming. Almost teasing me, luring me into its easy escape, almost too good to be true. The empty corridor behind me dead, the whole apartment block the same. The only company was the moon shining through the window, the white light sitting beside me on my bed. A sharp shine glanced off the table next to me, a blood stained blade reflecting the moonlight. Memory passed through my semi-conscience mind, the slow cut, the sharp rush of relief, the dribble of blood that trailed down my arm, dropping slowly off my wrist. The blade still slightly wet, my arm scabbing over, tracing it with my finger. Why was I the tucked up one? Why was I the one who had to suffer? I never chose this life, my past, my present and looking on I had to make a desision about my future. Do I plod on and try and get by? Hoping it gets better, or do I end it now? It would be quick and easy, I had the chance to escape my own mental pain, the emotional scars that would never fade, always there for when the time comes when it comes up again. I could so easy run the sharp steel blade down my artery, watch the blood gush and the pain to fix my addiction for it that one last time. Why does it tease me? Why does it do it to me? Should I do it?
