    Default Digitally Painted Sphere

Just getting used to my Tablet. Tried some lighting on a sphere just to understand how the shadows work.

u rushed the shadow at the bottom, and the reflecting light on the ball needs to be bigger, other than that, u have a pretty good idea

The diffuse light source has to appear more spherical, it looks like the near side is a flat surface when it just cuts off like that.
It may even be that there seems to be a a slight shading under the light source which may actually be what causes that side to feel flat.

Felt like painting this just to give an idea; sorry about the shading towards the bottom.

its actually easier to draw a sphere, do a circle selection, paint the sphere black, then take a soft round brush, pretty big on a low opacity and then put the center of the brush where the light directly shines on.. i'll do one in a sec and post so you know what i mean.
then you can copy the black sphere, lower the opacity of the entire layer and stretch it so that its directly across from the place where the light shines directly on the sphere

@nutter, it seems flat because the light source isnt properly defined, try gently blending the pure white to grays to black in circular motion,if the pen pressure isnt making ou comfortable, go to your tablet properties and change the setting to hard. it will be easier to define the pressure now. Or you can also do cross hatch and easily get a spherical shape.

@panda: lmao, actually that way is good if you only want a sphere, the sphere nutter created was to practice shading using tablet, i think you will know it better than anyone else since you are a traditional artist :P
