SigEp Website
So my cousin is asking me to do his fraternity website for him. I got a pretty good idea and then I realized it was for a fraternity and not a design portfolio site >.<
Regardless, I'm trying to make it prestigious and sleek looking at the same time. Heres an very early mock-up that i've been working on:

I realize the body is definitely too big, but that can be changed pretty easily when I add more bling bling. (It's also kind of hard to add content boxes when theres not that much to put in them)

For this kind of project, I would definitely look at other fraternity type designs and work. Since you aren't competing for a particular brand or product, you don't have to totally reinvent the wheel when it comes to your design. So "bling bling" really isn't necessary. But what you do have to do is please your client, and produce something they can say effectively represents them. I really don't think the little 2.0 gradient shapes and the faded text watermark are going to be the right direction for this.
I looked up a bunch of frat sites on google, and here's what I came up with. Alot of dependency on the color red for Kappa. Most of these designs are pretty dated and could probably use some refreshing, but you can get a pretty good idea of how content is laid out, and what your client might want to display on their site.

To help you get a better idea of some clean, professionally stinted designs, you can also check out college websites, although in the case of a fraternity, they are going to want you to use a particular set color scheme. So keep that in mind.

I would offer more guidance, but there's not a whole lot I can comment on. Keep posting your progress and I'll do my best to keep up and help.

It looks really nice, The text is kinda blurry in your content area.
