Welcome. If you give the forum about half an hour, it'll grant you access to the rest of the board. This is because the forum updates itself every half hour or so.
Not sure what the problem is there. =\
What version Photoshop do you have and what Image are you trying to import? One possibility is that the image is corrupt and it's not loading cause there's a problem with the file.
Does this happen with any other images?

i'm running adobe photoshop cs5 extended.
and it does the same for all png's
it works with jpeg though.
but i wanna use the png files i've downloaded from planetrenders

How are you opening them up in PS?

hello new person, welcome to the void i found this same problem on adobe's website and here is what they said
Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.
hopefully you get this and it helps
