Too flat, and your colors are really not working here. Play with more layers, and a wider variety of colors and shades. The key to creating depth without having to use a c4d, or a stock, is to layer your brushing. Vary the hues and shades, and you'll start to get an idea of how to do that. Just play with it. As for the colors, you've got too much grey color here, feels like a washed out autumn color scheme. I'd also blur, or fade that light part on the right, it's too distracting from your focal point.

Too empty, tbh.
Colors don't really coordinate.
Text looks okay.
Way too over contrasted on the left beside his head.
I think your top priority is to improve on your color scheme.
You should always try to make your color's match the render. ESPECIALLY for a smudge piece.

Work on avoiding the whole "floating head" sig.
also, smudging is not bad, but you need to have a bit more, work on your composition, contrast, and effects.
Composition- look up the rule of thirds on google, find out where to place a render or stock.
Contrast- very easy fix, you just need to know where its necessary, where there needs to be more, and where there needs to be less. Try- AdjustLayer-B/W Gradient Map, set to luminosity. (there are many other ways to achieve contrast.) I see certain parts of this tag that look to white or over contrasts, and others that have no contrast at all.
Effects- Make use of c4ds, and different filters... You'll notice that a lot of the top notch sig makers dont over use filters other than the occasional sharpen, or topaz, but you can achieve some great visual effects by using them.
Good work, kiu up, hopefully this helps
