I've been working fairly hard on this design for a fair while, on an off. I REALLY hope Unit 43 comments on this one, it's right up his alley.

nice. only comment is the centre graphics has no seperation from the rest other than based on location. i would normaly expect a more obvious seperation (as you see on most zines).
I love the feather and the text, if you took out the centre bit and left the rest as the template for a magazine, then i reckon kick ass.

WTF are you talking about metal??? The best part about this is the vector!!! It is freaking amazing dude! You really have a strength with vectors. Was the whole vector done with just the pen tool, or is some of that custom shapes?

i didn't say the vector itself was bad, I think its an incredible bit of work. But the review is about teh 'magazine front page/cover' and as such I said that it looked out of place as the centre of a mag is normaly a feature of something inside. look at any gfx or computer mag and you will see what i mean.
of course the centre peice could be the subject, but as its the same colour as all text on the page, it looks like its all one peice, not a mag front page with a feature centre.
I reckon change the colour of the centre bit, or break up the colour of the headings somehow, just to give it a visual seperation from all the same colour.

It looks fantastic. Everything from the bottom of the vector to the top of the page is amazing.
I don't like the "vector revolution" and below though. it seems to be just kind of floating there. And although I understand what you were trying to imply with the font you used for "vector revolution" i think it's counter to the point. Vector is suppose to be smoother than raster art, less digital and more fluid. You're moving from a decadent and ornate design into a simple and archaic font that remind me of the old VT100 terminal type days.
It's deffinetly eye-catching. The flow from the top of the page to the bottom of the vector is terrific, but like i said the vector revolution part just seems to be out of sync with the rest in both the flow and the style. I would deffinetly stop and take another look at this, if i passed it on a magazine rack, though.
The black background was a nice choice, it really accents the richness of the decadent vector style. You may want to try a splash of orange or red in the design just to see how it looks.
Overall I think you did a great job, and you should be very proud of it. This deffinetly deserves to be in this forum.

Reading over metal's review, he has a point. However, I disagree with it. Yes, most magazine covers have a distinct seperation to show that the cover image is reffering to a certain article. But, I think this looks much better as a single unit. It gives the cover a sturdy feeling, more like a book cover than a magazine cover. Which will cause people to second glance at it. Like I said, the black was a bold move. I like it.

lol havta agree with your point 43, it is without a doubt eye catching. if i saw it in a shop i would stop and have a gander through it. the black and white constrast is very eye catching and there is a certain flow to it being all white that is very appealing. So I would be forced to agree if it was a 'special edition' or similar, but as a general cover I would still desire a break up.
:edit:
please note, I think this the best work I have seen posted in this section so far, dont let my critic of the subject influence anyone to the contary. It is without a doubt one of the all time best vector gfx i have ever seen.

I have to agree with you metal, that it is the best in this section, but not the best vector ever. Go to Lucid concept and check out some of their vectors. Those are FRAKING amazing. the site is http://www.projectsd.net/v4/members/

Thanks all, but I did not make that vector. It is an abstract from deviantart.
I am trying to get into vector though

I looks fine but if you didn't make the vector, you kind of didn't make the majority of it. I mean, you put it together, added some text and the vector. I would be impressed if you made the vector itself but anyway it's still a fine job. I like the fonts and love the feather coming out of the "O". It looks fine and professional, good work.

Wow that looks amazing man, the main thing I have a problem with is the text. First off, theres too much of it throughout the image - which takes away from the main central vector. Get rid of some of the text and it will look better.
Yo, if you could make a black on white version of that render, could I please use that as the enterance image on GFXVoid?
