Definitely like the colour version better.
Good job with blending the render in, but you should work on blending the effects around him in as well. For example, above his shoulder on the right, the yellow really sticks out from the orange behind it.
The flow is good, and you have some light going on...
So good job, keep it up ^^

Really nice flow and smudge.
The lighting seems great too.

I think the smudge could have more of a 'wow' factor to it.
I prefer the colored version, great work man!
