A mother faces criminal charges after she hired a stripper to dance at her 16-year-old son’s birthday party.

Anette Pharris, 34, has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and involving a minor in obscene acts. The boy’s father, the stripper and two others also face charges.

“I tried to do something special for my son,” Pharris said. “It didn’t harm him.”

About 10 people under the age of 18 were at the birthday party in September, including minors who were not related to the family, authorities said.

Police spokesman Don Aaron said minors are not permitted in adult establishments.

“A person shouldn’t be allowed to circumvent that law by hiring a stripper, a lady who took all her clothes off and spent a good amount of time dancing around minors,” he said.

Anette Pharris took photos at the party and tried to have them developed at a nearby drug store. Drug store employees notified authorities, police said.

“Who are they to tell me what I can and can’t show to my own children?” the mother said.

I think its a bit extream saying she is a 'perverted bitch'.

When I was a kid (aprpox 16) my family let me and my brother watch porkies. Now that may sound tame today, but back then it was a bl**dy risky movie. Compared to today, my parents would be arrested also.

Some people go to nudist resorts with children of all ages, we dont call them 'perverted', though I'm sure the religious minority would.

It's a shame that the american people see only their religious fundamental views of life as the only possible true view of how things should be. There is no comprehension that there are other views on how children should be raised, what they can be exposed to, etc.

A friend of mine, well his mom let him have penthouse and playboy mags from around teh age of 15. Technicaly letting a minor have access to those mags is illegal, but I personaly dont' see anything wrong with it.

In this case i think the judgment of the parents was not good. They commited something which is clearly breaking the law in their country. I'm not making a moral judgement on what they did, only an observation on whether it was legal. Same issue applies to smoking, drinking and for tat matter, partaking in mary jane.

Well, i think that most of that is ok, like porkey's, thats a movie, they didn't WANT you to see it for the nude parts and for those alone. I mean seriously, why would she even want that? That's just disgusting.

It's all a matter of perspective and knowing the situation. Most 16 year olds i know would love to see a stripper. I know of a mother who let her 14 year old daughter have male friends sleep over in her room with the door closed.

It realy comes down to the maturity of the people involved and how developed they are both emotionaly and socialy.

I wouldn't do it to my son, who is 16 next month, as I don't beleive he would be mature enough to handle it.

However I know other 16 year olds that are more mature than others. I even know 18 year olds who legaly can go in an 'adult entertainment venue' but are not emotionaly or socialy as mature as most 15 year olds.

I think the parents used very poor judgment, considering that doing that was illegal and should have been obvious with some thought. But I don't think its disgusting because I have no idea about the details.

Also note that the media's view of the details will always be distorted to create the most reaction (specialy if its a moral indignation reaction) because it sells better.

I'm a bit confused about my own beliefs relating to this at the moment, and sorry if I confuse any of you. I don't believe that either parents or the government should have the rights over what their children can and cannot do in this society. All this preaching of "Freedom" and "Democracy" throughout the American culture can pretty much all be shot down when you consider the fact that I, despite the fact that I'm as mature, if not more mature then most fully grown adults in my opinion, cannot have such minor liberties as being able to purchase a ticket to an R rated movie, drink an alcoholic beverage, or vote for the people who will have power over my life and the lives of everybody around me.

Do I think it was morally wrong for that mother to hire a stripper for her son's party? No, but then again I don't believe that there's anything either 'wrong' or 'special' about the human body. So she was naked? What's the big deal? Give me one good reason why a nude female, or anyone for that matter, should even be considered offensive to any extent.

Because our society has made it that way!! Exactly, nudity shouldnt be weird. It is because of our society that it has become a perverted thing. And you bring a good point that there are 18 year olds that aren't mature and 13 year olds that are. I'm 13 and I have drunken alchohol before. But i'm not necessarily gonna go out, get fucked up and kill somebody . The main thing is it would be so hard for people to make a system based on maturity. You'd have to be tested or something and that's too hard.

w00t! I agree fully red! The body should not be ashamed of. It's a beatiful thing. I would love to take some real art classes that have a nude model. Even if the woman wasnt the most beatiful or not.

I perosnally see nothing wrong with this. But it is against the law. My parents know that i drink beer and liquor, and they dont care. They trust that i wont be idiotic and do something reatarded.

Actually my parents lets me have parties at my house, that involve drinking. I'm glad they give me such freedom.

Might wanna move this to clashing opinions . I agree BFG, the human body is a wonderful thing, but now we have turned it into an object of lustful pleasure.
