I'll give you some advise but this is from my own personal experience and view.
You shouldn't really follow Youtube tutorials on how to make signatures, if anything, you should only go to Youtube to learn how to use certain effects and to learn what Clip masking is and how all those other Plug-ins work. When following tutorials, if you have any question about what a person means or maybe you didn't understand what he meant, you should always Google what that is, for example "Clip Mask, 45%". You might not know what Clip mask is, so you should search for it on Google then the %'s always means the layers opacity.
The rest is up to your own imagination, you should never copy anyone's style and keep at it, if you must then try to change something up a bit. Using someone else's style is like your brain is sucking in all the information possible on that certain style, once you master the style and learn it inside and out then move on to the next one and maybe once in awhile make 1 signature with a piece of each style, that is how those "professional" looking signatures come to be. The "Pro Sigs" are eye catching because you've never seen that style before and all that is, is a bunch of different styles in one.
So again, Youtube is bad for learning on how to make signatures but it is a great tool and gateway to learn how to use certain effects on Photoshop. Copying someone else's style is good to an extent, but it'll hold back your progress if you keep doing the same thing, over and over again.
Good luck, hope this helps.
