Personally, I prefer the one with more layers. I like what you did with the background, and how one side is light compared to the other. Adds a nice lighting effect for the render. Although I like the one with more layers, the bottom right looks cluttered where the v2 isn't. If you could maybe lessen the layers on v1 but don't take as much away, it would be perfect for what you're going for.
