Title says it all. I'm here listening to some of the songs from the album. Can't say I'm not excited. Really some songs there that I are just to my taste.

What do you guys think of the songs on the album? Did he disappoint ya? Did perform to expectations? Say here.

Did not sound anything like Lupe on some. Too much POP on the album was not a good thing.I thought something must be wrong and then I found this

Even Lupe hates his own album. Shame on Atlatic Records. Lu should get another label

In MANY interviews leading up to the release, Lupe himself said this was just an album to count towards the 3 he has left on his contract. Songs originally intended to be on his 3rd album weren't gonna be on here and he was gonna make something more like what the label wanted to see from him, because they told him what he was doing wasn't gonna see the light of day, he needed more pop appeal.
So yes, he definitely shifted more towards a commercial sound, but IMO it still has that Lupe ring to it.. there's a couple true Lupe tracks on here and even the B.o.B-ish songs are better than what any of these pop rappers would do, especially on the lyrical side. There's only around 4 songs on there that IMO normally don't belong on a Lupe album.

But if you are a true Lupe fan and followed the whole affair leading to this release, you wouldn't be disappointed but instead excited cause he's now one step closer to being able to be himself again and release music based on his own artistic vision.

I never paid much attention to Lupe before until I heard Superstar some time back, and even then I wasn't that interested. It was onyl when I heard The Show Goes On that I was like "Whoa, this sounds pretty good. 3 months to go? Can't wait!" so yeah lol.

Food & Liquor 2 should be coming out later this year right?

i have been a long time lupe fan and have listened all of his songs. i do not listen to music anymore, but had to give lasers a go.. well because its by lupe. needless to says. it was bit disappointing. flow, lyrics, word-play all is there just as expected, and are next to none. however, the tone, some of the theme, and production definitely hints at behind the curtain string pulling. album really doesn't fit with what he has released in the past. songs are good, but does not compare to F&L or the cool

if you have only liked lupe because of 'show must go on' i highly suggest you listen to his old stuff, especially the mix tapes.

Considering The Cool is my favorite album by him, I have to say its a disappointment. Do I hate the album? No, do I love it? No, its more like a whatever feeling, probably the same way Lupe himself feels. This album just doesn't feel like him, and we can blame Atlantic for that. However there are still some traces of the real Lupe.

Tracks like Till I Get There, All Black Everything and his bonus tracks or pretty much classic Lupe. The album itself is alright, but for some reason I just can't enjoy it like The Cool and Food & Liquor.

Everyone at last.fm seem pretty upset though.
