Alright. I have done two different experiments. These effects are backgrounds which can be used for sigs; thus, my documents being of sig size. I was fooling around with stuff, and I was using some of Pinklemonade's tips in her newest tutorial.

Step 1. Make a new document. Dimensions 421x114. White background.

Step 2. Choose the Brush tool. Choose 65 pixels. Make sure that the foreground is black, and the background is white. The Mode and other options should be left normal; untouched.

Step 3. Now, get the brush, and draw a line going straight down the middle. (Vertical. Also, Hold Shift while holding down the Click to make it a straight line). Then, make a straight horizontal line, going from the left all the way to the right.

Step 4. Then, Filter>Distort>Twirl. By 250. Press ok.

Step 5. Now, go to the Layer Menu in the bottom right, right click, and click on Duplicate Layer. After the duplication, set the Blending Option to Lighten. (Where it says Normal, click on it, and a selection of options should Pop-Up, then, look for Lighten)

Step 6. After you set it too Lighten. Go back to Filter>Distorit>Twirl. And this time set it to -500

Step 7. After, Merge the layers. Either Press CTRL+E to do it, or do it from the top, where it says Layer. (If you wanna do it from the top, click Layer, and Merge Down is in the bottom of the selection that pops up). Then, go to Filter>Sketch>Chrome. And use these setting for the Chrome. Detail: 4. Smoothness: 7. Finally, press ok.

Step 8. Then, Duplicate the layers once again. (If you don't know how to do it, I explained it in Step 7.) After, the duplication, set the Blending option to Lighten once again. After, head your way back to Filter>Distort>Twirl. Set it to -500. Afterwards, Merge the layers, Duplicate it again, and set the Blending option to Darken. (Same way to get Lighten, but click Darken this time) Then, Filter>Distort>Twirl, by 999, merge the layers once again, and Waa Laa.

Now, you can flip around the filters, and the Blending options to make it a different look. Also, you can change the colors before you Merge the layers. It may not be very good looking, but the journey to reach the outcome gives way to many, many options for the look of the background, so fool around with this.

-----Different Background, a whole new outcome. I'm not going to put pictures for the first steps because it's related to the beginning of the ones above. (Mainly Copy & Pasting)------

Step 1. Make a new document. Dimensions 421x114. Black background.

Step 2. Choose the Brush tool. Choose 65 pixels. Make sure that the foreground is white, and the background is black.

After the duplication, set the Blending Option to Darken. (Where it says Normal, click on it, and a selection of options should Pop-Up, then, look for Darken)

Step 6. After you set it too Darken. Go back to Filter>Distorit>Twirl. And this time set it to -500

Step 7. Then go to Filter>Sketch>Chrome. Detail: 4. Smoothness: 7. After, Merge the layers. Then, Duplicate the layer once again, change the Blending Option to Lighten, and go back to Filter>Distort>Twirl. Set it too 999. Merge Layers back together.

    Chromed:

    Final Outcome:

This is the Outcome with the last Blending Option toward Darken instead of Lighten.

--Well, that's it. Remember that you can add colors before merging Layers, and theres so many ways you can go about this, with different Filters, Blending Options, and Layer use. I haven't used it as a sig yet, but I thought that I should make a tutorial about this process. Well, that concludes my first tutorial.

I like the top one after the Chrome at Step 7.

Looks like that would be a good base to add some color and glowing edges or something then throw some brushwork over it to create a good abstract background for a sig...

Well yeah, it's just filters, but thats the same with basically all of the background tuts.... well.... a lot. I like some of the step's pictures better than others, and the end result looks kinda eh. If you somehow took out that white oval of nothingness in the middle and kept the swirls it'd probably look a lot cooler.... just my opinion tho ^^

Lol, well, thanks for the comments. That's what I was actually thinking about anyways: Filters. The Brush didnt even pop up in my head at the time, nor any other tool. Heh, I think it's been now Five days that I've been having Photoshop now, and well, I guess this is the best tutorial I can come up with at the time. Once again, thank you for your comments.
